Fall of the Roman Empire
Found a list of reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire, just wondering if any of this sounds familiar.
1. Decline in Morals/Values
2. Public Health
3. Political Corruption
4. Unemployment
5. Inflation
6. Urban Decay
7. Inferior Technology
8. Military Spending
I read something once comparing American society to the Roman Empire. I just can't help but wonder if maybe our society is on a down swing (if not a full out fall).

You forgot the pernicious "Lead Poisoning" theory.
I guess your point is that the U.S. is experiencing many of those same symptoms now. Well, if so, I disagree.
Our population is healthy; unemployment is low; inflation is low; many urban centers are improving.
The comparison would have been much stronger during the 1970s. The corruption and incompetence of Nixon/Ford followed by the horrible Carter administration featured high unemployment, high inflation, high crime rates, etc.
Since our nation survived even that dismal period, I guess the linkage to the fall of the Roman Empire isn't very strong, is it?
